Financial Literacy & Support
Financial literacy is the confident understanding of concepts including saving, investing, and debt that leads to an overall sense of financial well-being and self-trust. It starts by building a basic knowledge of money matters.

A representative payee is a person or an organization that manages an individual’s finances.

Healthcare & Benefits
- Medicaid
Medicaid provides health insurance to people who are aged, blind or disabled. These programs pay for hospital services, doctor visits, prescriptions, nursing home care, and other healthcare needs.
- Supplemental Security Income/Social Security Disability Insurance
The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides monthly payments to adults and children with a disability or blindness who have income and resources below specific financial limits.
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) pays monthly benefits to workers who are no longer able to work due to a significant illness or impairment that is expected to last at least a year or to result in death within a year. To be eligible, a disabled worker must have worked in jobs covered by Social Security.
Social Security Disability Survivor Benefits are paid to disabled children of individuals that are deceased and received SSDI.

Additional Support Programs:
- Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD):
The Division of Developmental Disabilities assures the opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities to receive quality services and support, participate meaningfully in their communities and exercise their right to make choices.
- Workability:
NJ WorkAbility offers people with disabilities who are working, and whose income would otherwise make them ineligible for Medicaid, the opportunity to receive full Medicaid coverage.

- Personal Assistance Services Program (PASP):
PASP provides up to 40 hours per week of routine, non-medical personal care assistant support for individuals with physical disabilities so they can remain active in their community.
To be eligible, you must be 18 and ineligible for Medicaid.
